KOLBÄCK ROTARY CLUB
To the Members of Eurotary 87, March , 2013
Dear Fellow Eurotarians,
Last year’s wonderful assembly of Eurotary 87, held at the Etwall & Hilton Rotary Club in Edinburgh, was the 21st assembly of the Eurotary fraternity of European Rotary Clubs since it was first held at Gordes, France. During the AGM we presented our plans for the 22nd assembly to be held in Kolbäck, Sweden, and it was agreed that the 2013 assembly will be extended to a four day period.
We therefore warmly welcome you to attend the 22nd assembly of Eurotary 87, hosted by the Kolbäck Rotary Club (D 2340), Sweden. The club has a large variety of events planned, and welcomes you for four days between the 5th and 8th September 2013.
Since 1993 and 2003, when we hosted the second and twelfth assembly, the size of the event has grown considerably. During your four day stay we will show you both contemporary and traditional Sweden – as well as the country’s great outdoors. In Sweden, great value is placed on enjoying the beautiful nature on our door step.
The programme for your stay will see you enjoy new experiences with both new, and old, friends.
On the Thursday morning, those that wish, can take the opportunity for a round of golf at Skerike Golf Club. The evening reception will be held in the great Swedish outdoors for a traditional evening (and maybe even the chance to see some moose).
Friday’s programme will take on a Viking theme, with the opportunity to see Viking graves and Vikings boats, as well as tasting Viking food.
On Saturday we will visit the Sala Silvermine, which played a very significant part in the Swedish economy in the 17th century. We will also descend 155 meters below the earth to have a concert.
All the days will include outdoor activities so bring good shoes and comfortable clothing.
Accommodation is at the FIRST HOTEL PLAZA Karlsgatan 9, 721 09 Västerås. Phone +46 211 010 10
The addition of an extra day to the programme has meant that the price of the trip is a little dearer than previous meets. The price we have agreed is SEK 9.600 for a couple and SEK 5.600 for a single person. Whilst this is an increase from the price of the trip in 2012, we believe you will enjoy a once in a life time experience that offers value for money.
Most importantly, we send our sincerest best wishes to all the members of Eurotary 87, you are all very welcome to Västerås this September. We would be most grateful if Clubs could send an estimate of attendance by the 1th June, and finalise registration by the 1th July.
We look forward to welcoming you to Sweden.
Yours in Rotary,
Bo Johnsson
