Fellow Rotarians and honoured guests
Welcome to this our little corner of peace and tranquillity in rural Shropshire. It is my privilege and pleasure, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Albrighton and District members and our ladies, to extend the warmest welcome to you our dear friends – old and new.
Eurotary 87 is a wonderful concept dedicated under the umbrella of the Rotary ideal to promote meaningful international Fellowship and Friendship throughout Europe. From the glowin reports of all the previous Assemblies it has been a resounding success and continues to grow in popularity each year- During your visit we will endeavour to show you some of our countryside, heritage, history and a little of the future in the brief time available to us. There will of course be time for fun and business.
This area, in the 18th Century, was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution and continues to lead modern industry in the fields of electronics and communications.
Fun and fellowship, through service, is the motto of our club and with a lively weekend programme we will try to ensure that that we all enjoy a memorable Assembly at the start of the new millennium.
We are proud of our area and hope that many new acquaintances will be made, and that many of you will return with your friends to our special piece of England. You will all be made very welcome.
Thank you all for coming to this gathering and I hope that your visit will be full of happy memories.
Have a great Assembly – it is yours, make it special.
