Dear Fellow Eurotarians,
It is with pleasure that we invite you to attend the ELEVENTH Assembly of Eurotary 87 which is to be hosted by the Rotary Club of The Wreake Valley. The Assembly will take place at the Barnsdale Hall Hotel and Country Club, Near Oakham, Rutland, England from 20th to 22nd September 2002.
Barnsdale Hall is set in splendid surroundings on the banks of Rutland Water in the heart of England’s smallest mainland county. In addition to having the facilities necessary of a meeting of Eurotary – Bar, Function Rooms and Hotel – it also boasts some excellent leisure facilities. You are welcome to use the swimming pool, gymnasium, squash courts and snooker tables. If you prefer the fresh air there are tennis courts, boule/petanque, crazy golf and pitch and putt, In most cases you can use or hire the necessary equipment. Nearby, the energetic can hire bicycles and cycle round Rutland Water or you can just relax and let a small steamer do the work for you.
We have arranged an interesting programme based on the traditional Eurotary concept. For those who wish to play we are able to arrange for a golf competition on the Friday. This, of course, will necessitate an earlier arrival and booking details are to be found on the reverse of the Registration Form. On Friday evening we shall play a number of typically English Pub games – without having to go to the pub – with supper to follow. Teams will be organised by us to ensure a mix and to make sure that English Eurotarians do not gain any significant advantage. On Saturday we shall visit the newly opened National Space Centre but will allow you plenty of time afterwards to explore the local area, enjoy the facilities at Barnsdale or, if you must, indulge in some retail therapy in nearby Oakham or Stamford.
Saturday evening, as usual, will feature a Gala Dinner Dance ana on Sunday, whilst the Eurotarians attend the Annual General Meeting, their partners will be able to visit Gates Nur-series, Garden Centre and Gift Shop.
We have worked hard to contain the cost which for 2002 will be £315 for a couple and £185 for an individual occupying a single room. Subject to demand, we would hope to be able to offer’Home Hospitality’in the home of a Wreake Valley Rotarian – if you would like to stay for a day or two either before or after the Assembly weekend please complete the section on the reverse of the Registration Form.
We speak for all the members of the Club when we say that we would be pleased if you would join us in September 2OO2 and we look forward to welcoming you to the Eleventh Assembly of Eurotary 87 and the beauty of Rutland.
Yours in Rotary,
Ian Patterson
